Well, here goes nothing! I started this blog, as a result of a College Comp 2 assignment. How many of you have ever been called "fat", "ugly", "worthless"? I have struggled with my weight and with my body image for years. "Guys would like me more if I was smaller," and "My "friends" hang out with me so they look skinnier," are things that I have thought in the past. Now, my thoughts tend to be "I'd love to be the skinny, fit mom who goes to the gym," but at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of me. My daughter is growing up in a culture that frowns upon being anything but skinny. I don't want her to have the same issues I have. So, I've started this blog as a way to get the word out to the girls in this area; you are BEAUTIFUL, just the way you ARE! Caitlin Boyle started Operation Beautiful in 2009 with a post it note and pen, she scribbled "You are beautiful" and left it on the mirror in the bathroom. The next day, her email was full of emails from women who had seen her note and wanted to be a part of "Operation Beautiful"!
Who's with me? Let's show these young girls that they are full of worth, that they are beautiful exactly how they are, and that they can be an encouragement to other young girls who may feel the same way about their bodies!
